FAQ - Clinic Patients
What is Physiatry?Â
Physiatry is a medical specialty that focuses on the functional aspect of medicine to give patients a better quality of life. We can work with patients in many inpatient and outpatient settings. We are not therapists (PT, OT, SLP) but rather work alongside them to optimize patient outcomes.
What does Physiatry do?
Physiatrists work with patients and their families to improve function by overcoming barriers to ADLs.
We can help with medication management, non-pharmacologic approaches, and interventions such as injections.
Do you perform any procedures that can help me?
Physiatry can help by performing a number of injections including but not limited to ultrasound guided peripheral joint injections, ultrasound guided nerve blocks, EMG guided botulinum toxin injections, and trigger point injections to name a few.
Do you perform EMGs and Nerve Conduction Studies?
Yes, we offer electrodiagnostic testing for carpal tunnel, cubital tunnel, and tarsal tunnel.
